We ‘softly’ launched ourselves into the cacophony of the online world less than two weeks ago. It will take time to find our feet and our voice – please stick with us. Our small editorial team has reported on the world’s largest ever drugs reform conference, the London Mayoral race and the impact of the comprehensive spending review. Last week we were delighted to host the US writer and physician Dr David Casarett in London, Newcastle and Northern Ireland. David’s book ‘Stoned’ is a lucid analysis of how medical cannabis has become normalised in the US. David’s erudition impressed everyone he met. We hope to have more similar events very soon. See here for my interview with David.

From the outset we have made clear our desire to publish new writers on VolteFace. I am pleased that already we new contributors in the pipeline and we want more of you to join us. Please do email me (steve@volteface.me) with ideas and suggestions for pieces.

Over the next few weeks we will be taking a close at recent events in Ireland and profiling the individuals and institutions who have contributed to the transformed drugs debate now taking place over there. We will also be interviewing all the CISTA London Mayoral candidates — see Alastair’s report on last week’s hustings.

Please do continue to share our posts and send us your ideas.

Onwards,

Steve
