5 things to not miss at Cannabis Europa 2024

by Volteface Team

Cannabis Europa 2024 comes to London tomorrow! Volteface will be in attendance – we’re looking forward to seeing plenty of familiar faces and tuning into what will undoubtedly be a fantastic agenda.

We’ve been browsing the agenda and here are five key things to not miss on the 2024 agenda! To access the full agenda, click here.

1. The Influence of Public Health on the Cannabis Industry

As recreational cannabis reform continues to develop at a pace across Europe, an important consideration is now how the industry safeguards itself against becoming the next tobacco or alcohol. Now more than ever, it’s important to ensure harm reduction is at the core to developing regulatory frameworks whilst considering the impact this has on the emerging industry and the illicit market.

2. Developments in the Czech Republic

There is lots going on in the Czech Republic when it comes to cannabis reform. Although there have been several backtracks from officials around what a legal cannabis market could look like, there is much to consider with the changes that have taken place in Germany. This panel will hear from experts on the ground about what a rational approach to cannabis could look like in the Czech Republic

  • Talk Title: State of Play: Czech Republic
  • Date Time and Location: Weds 26th June, 9:50-10:20, Main Conference Stage
  • Speakers: Pavel Kubu, Tom Vyzmal, Jindrich Voboril, Robert Veverka, Tomas Ryska, Lukas Hurt

3. What defines a medical cannabis patient?

As recreational cannabis markets begin to unfold, it’s important to have a clear understanding of what constitutes the criteria of a medical cannabis patient right now. Understandably there is a blurring of lines when it comes to separating medical from recreational but a distinction is necessary to improve the current landscape for everyone.

4. Development of the UK market

Although the UK is showing signs of growth and patient numbers are expected to hit 62,000 by the end of this year, there are still significant teething problems to address to see sustainable development. The UK is also a unique sector with plenty of specific considerations to see successful awareness creation and adoption from patients.

There are two talks we are particularly looking forward to listening to on this topic:

  • Talk Title: From here to there: Why aren’t UK patient numbers the same level of Germany, Australia and Israel
  • Date, Time and Location: Tues 25th June, 14:30-15:10, The Greenhouse
  • Speakers: James Smith

5. The German Cannabis Market

Germany’s cannabis reform rollout hasn’t gone exactly to plan but they have finally made the big step forward. What impact will this have on the rest of Europe and how can we ensure positive outcomes and progression?

  • Talk Title: Cannabis in Germany: the starting pistol for Europe?
  • Date, Time and Location: Tues June 25th 11:30-12:20, Main Conference Stage
