In Volteface’s first documentary, Director Paul North takes a trip to Brighton to catch up with Carly Barton, who was the first patient to legally receive medical cannabis in the UK, to discuss the new Cancard scheme.
The Cancard scheme is a medical cannabis scheme that is devised with doctors, police and patients. Under the scheme, patients who would be eligible for a private prescription carry an identity card that lets police know that they are legitimate patents using cannabis to medicate.
This documentary explores the scheme by talking practically with ex-law enforcement and and a legal professional. We aim to find out what this means for patients and how it works practically.
