Thank You For Coming, We’re Only Just Getting Started

by Henry Fisher

Last night saw the launch of our first print issue at the stunning new Waterstones on Tottenham Court Road. The downstairs bar marks a welcome evolution to the bookshop template, and the book-lined walls created a wonderfully intimate, almost homely feel to the celebrations.

VolteFace [Issue 1]

Evolution seemed to be the theme of the evening, as our Editor-In-Chief laid out the mission statement of VolteFace: to catalyse the evolution of debate around drugs here in the UK and Ireland. If last night is anything to go by, we’re off to a flying start.

VolteFace itself marks an exciting evolution in the field of drug policy magazines and organisations, as we hope to bring fresh perspectives and voices to debates that have so often become entrenched. The policies and culture surrounding drugs affect everyone, most often in ways the average person on the street is completely unaware of. We want to change that, to inform people. We want to get you talking about drugs; we want to get your grandparents talking about drugs.

Our editing team preparing the launch

We would like to say a huge thank you from us at the VolteFace team to all those who came last night, for making the evening such a success. It was heartening and encouraging to hear so much enthusiasm for what we hope will be an exciting new venture. Having been online for nearly six months, our first print edition marks the first stage in our own evolution, and we are all very excited about what will come next.

Watch this space, and thank you for supporting us this far.
